Using the serial printer output port of available EAS  decoders/encoders, connection is made to a computer com port. The text is captured for viewing and saved automatically after a timeout specified by the user. Com ports, along with the saved capture files are displayed in a tree view similar to Windows Explorer(tm) with custom icons representing ports and filenames. Four tabbed pages for last message(s), com port parameters, viewing and printing saved files, and application properties are included. An additional feature allows auto startup after a reboot. App initially tested on SAM HU-961 (tm) EAS units from Hollyanne Corp. Check the Freeman Labs web site for latest versions or just information. Registration is all that's required. Freeman Labs
Freeware EASWatch.zip 1.737M 1-16-98 EAS Watch Version 1.2
Copyright 1996, 1997 – Kirk Wesley
Description:
EASWatch.exe is designed to help you manage your EAS system. The program will keep both an electronic and a printed log detailing the events that have been received and transmitted by the system. The program requires Windows 3.1 or higher and an unused serial port on the computer. The program does not attempt to control your EAS system in any way; it only helps you to keep track of what it is doing.
Some of the highlights are:
  • The last 100 events are shown in a scrollable window for easy review at all times.
  • The ability to create search filters for specific event types, such as an activation for a specific area or from a specific source.
  • When any of the searched events are recognized, the system can play an audio wave file or start another program or batch file in response. The batch file could bring up instructions for the operator on how to respond to the specific alert.
  • The system will always display the last date and time for a specific event. This will allow you to quickly determine the exact date and time of events like the last weekly test, without having to manually search through the station logs.
  • A hard copy of the day's EAS log can be printed every night to a local or network printer; the operator can simply attach it to the station log instead of having to mess with the small printed tapes that most systems provide.
  • A custom help file can be generated by the user and will appear on the help menu. This file can include explanations for all of the necessary functions on your specific EAS system, and emergency phone numbers.
  • A log file detailing all activity is always stored on the local hard drive. In addition a complete electronic copy of the daily log can be automatically archived to any directory on the network at midnight. This feature may allow you to eliminate printed logs altogether.

Features -

Power
Antenna Configuration
Transmitter Latitude/Longitude
Field at 1km
Station Class
Directional Antenna plots:
Field Strength at 1km or Equivalent Power
Log Scale option.
Option to display Theoretical, Standard, or Augmented patterns, Tower Parameters: Height, Spacing, Orientation, Phasing, etc. Graphical layout plot.
System Requirements - MS Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. Recommended minimum is a fast 486 or Pentium™ with a fast hard disk, since large amounts of data need to be read quickly. While a 386-based PC with math coprocessor will work, performance will likely be unacceptably slow. VGA/Super VGA with at least 640x480 res. (800x600 or greater highly recommended). At least 20MB of free hard disk space. ** If you have a Pentium™ chip with the floating-point bug, pattern plots may be in error.

Freeware wnettime.zip 113K 3-10-98 This program will connect to one of the time servers operated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and will compare the time of the clock in your computer with the atomic time-scale operated by NIST. The program will display the time difference and will offer you the option of adjusting your clock by the displayed amount.

You can configure the program to run in any time zone and with or without the correction for US daylight saving time enabled. These parameters will be set automatically from your user environment using parameter "TZ" (if it is defined). They can also be configured using the menus; the resulting configuration can be saved to facilitate future comparisons.

The program is designed to run on any configuration that supports Windows (v3.1 or later) and using a network interface that is compatible with the Winsock standard (v1.1 or later).

The overall uncertainty in the time comparison should be no worse than +/- 0.5 seconds under all circumstances, and will be substantially less than this value in most cases.

Freeware rwt.zip 24K 12-03-96 The RWT.exe utility will allow you to issue a command from DOS, to initiate a Required Weekly Test to the Sage ENDEC EAS encoder/decoder. Many automation systems will allow embedded DOS commands, but will generally not handle the complex serial commands necessary to instruct the ENDEC to issue an RWT execution. At the present, the RWT utility requires that the user password in the ENDEC is 1111! This is the factory default setting. This utility has an intentional 1 second delay built in, so that the ENDEC's serial buffer does not overflow. Glenn Finney
